French Possessives Adjectives Come in Many, Many Forms

Possessive adjectives are the words used in place of articles to indicate to whom or to what something belongs. French possessive adjectives are used in similar ways to English possessive adjectives, but there are some differences in form. Using French Possessive Adjectives French grammar touts many more possessives than English  because there are different forms, not only for the person and number but sometimes also for the gender and the first letter of that which is possessed. All of the different forms are summarized in the table below and are explained in detail later in this lesson. When describing two or more nouns in French, a possessive adjective must be used in front of each one. Son frà ¨re et sa sÅ“ur.His brother and sister.Ma tante et mon oncle.My aunt and uncle. The possessive adjective is almost never used with body parts in French. You cant say my hand or my hair. Instead, the French use pronominal verbs to show possession with body parts. The gender, number, and first letter of the noun possessed determine which form to use. A man would say  mon livre  when talking about a book, and a woman would also say  mon livre.  The book is masculine, and therefore so is the possessive adjective, no matter to whom the book belongs. Likewise, both men and women would say  ma  maison, because house is feminine in French. It doesnt matter whether the owner of the house is male or female. This difference between English and French possessive adjectives can be particularly confusing when using him, her, or it.  Son,  sa, and  ses  can each mean his, her, or  its,  depending on the context. For example,  son lit  can mean his bed, her bed, or its bed (for example, the dogs). If you need to stress the gender of the person the item belongs to, you can use  Ãƒ  Ã‚  lui  (belonging to him) or  Ãƒ  Ã‚  elle  (belonging to her). Introduction Right now there are students on every college campus slowly killing themselves. Every day they are getting closer and closer to death. Most have become experts at keeping their condition hidden and walk around looking just as any other higher education student. Some show no signs or clues of this slow death. Many of these dying students are active on campus and have 4.0 GPAs, others dart around campus going unseen, but both are inflicting painful self-induced deaths. This may sound extremely dramatic, but that is exactly what eating disorders are, for these students and for anyone who has an eating disorder death is one of the most undeniable and likely outcomes. Activities in the interest of the environment The company aims to increase the quality of fish species through its sustainable aquaculture activities but the environmentalists have strictly condemned their practice. They consider such activity as immoral and ineffective because such high-value fish species would only be beneficial for the rich people and the poorer ones could not obtain any benefit from it. Moreover, they also considered such transformation as highly prone to malnutrition and starvation risks (Piedrahita, 2003). Therefore, BSF Ltd was not available with an option and it had to discontinue such activity as per the directions of the environmentalists. Sooner, it started its research activities into bacteria so that it can produce fish weeds, residue of environment-friendly sugarcane etc (Lothe, 2013). Due to the objections put forward by the environmental experts, the company had no choice but to adopt environment-friendly ways to carry on their activities. Therefore, even signing of the report by the company rega rding itself a socially responsible and environment-friendly company is not an ethical activity (Baldwin, 2010). Problems with the prior research As stated above, environmentalists have highly condemned the practice of transformation of low-value fish into high-value fish because they consider that developing such species at the cost of human food crops is not at all ethical. They also considered that such high-value species would not be beneficial for the poorer people and only the rich ones can have it. They also felt that such conversion increases the danger of malnutrition and starvation risks in the species (Messier Emby, 2005). Hence, BSF Ltd had to abide by the experts and conduct such an activity that is entirely environmental-friendly. The company started research on bacteria in order to create fish weeds, residue of sugarcane etc and in relation to this, it spent more than AU$160 million. In order to bring the research into the markets, it also expended a whopping amount of AU$200 million. Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) also assisted the company by offering a reward of AU$500 mi llion on one condition that it is bound to expend a minimum of AU$ 100 million per year on the alternative feeds of aquaculture. Therefore, when the company received such an amount in the year 2013, it spent around AU$500 million for the purposes of research and it targeted of spending an extra AU$200 million for the development of sustainable aquaculture feeds. Considering the role of an auditor, it is notable that an auditor must properly advocate himself about the nature of business conducted by the company by carrying out brief research and investigations. He must also make ways to understand about the statutory laws and regulations applicable to the company (Heeler, 2009). An auditor must also assess the impact of the companys activities on the environment as a whole. In other words, he must know whether the company fulfils the regulatory requirements or not and whether its activities are not detrimental to the environmental interest (Kaplan, 2011). However, it is the duty of an auditor to look into the matter and detect the issue at a very beginning so that the prospectus is free from any misleading information (Parker et. al, 2011). A prospectus is treated as a window for the company where the invest ors can look into the prospect. If an assertion is false, it will complicate the things and influence the decision of the investors in a negative manner (Manoharan, 2011). Therefore, as per the law and the ethical practice, the claims made by BSF are false and should be detected by the auditors at an early stage which did not happen. Conclusion From the above report, it can be addressed that the audit program of the BSF were based on weak grounds. It failed to detect the error in the prospectus. Moreover, BSF is wrong in the matter of assertion that it has an exclusive control over bacteria based feed. The assertion should be done when it is completely done and patented but the prospectus contained misstatement that must be avoided. Act three scene five, known as the Second Balcony Scene, is of great dramatic importance and contains various moods, ranging from the calm lyrics of the lovers to the anger and bitterness of old Capulet. This scene is pivotal to the play seeing the last time the lovers meet alive and Juliets brave defiance of her parents. The story is popular because it has a universal appeal. People at the time would be familiar with similar problems. Marriages between Catholics and Protestants cause problems. It has influenced literature for hundreds of years as authors have chosen similar themes. West Side Story is a modern Romeo and Juliet story set in the USA. In the script this is performed at the window itself. In film version by Franco Zefferelli, I have seen the director start off with the couple in bed. Personally I would follow the script and start it off on the balcony. This way it is easier for the audience to see whats going on and it also makes the balcony a centre point, more special. It has been their wedding night arranged with great secrecy through the help of the nurse. There is a birdcall and Juliet tells Romeo: It was the nightingale, and not the lark. Romeo resists, saying that he must leave before morning comes or he will be put to death. However, he stays longer with her. Juliet shows tension as she realizes that Romeo must leave her, but begs him to stay; she cannot bear to part with him. It is appropriate that the time is dawn, which divides the day and the night. Shakespeare plays on the theme that Juliet has supernatural powers. Romeo describes her as transforming night into day. She now has the power to change a lark into a nightingale through the power of language. The tension is further reflected in the light and dark images that colour their speeches. Romeo knows he must immediately depart for: Nights candles are burnt out, and he sees light in the east. Juliet tries to explain it away as a meteor in the darkness. As Romeo finally goes down the balcony to his exile, Juliet, with dramatic irony, asks: O thinkst thou we shall meet again? Romeo bravely tries to comfort her. Looking down upon him from her balcony, Juliet says with chilling foreboding: O God! I have an ill-divining soul. Methinks I see thee, now thou art below. As one dead in the bottom of a tomb. Tragically when the lovers meet next, it will be in a tomb, and Romeo will be dead. All the characters without knowing it are showing echoes of the future. The next part of the scene is the conversation between Lady Capulet and Juliet. I think Juliet should be alone in the room staring out of the window after Romeo, weeping. When her mother enters she would quickly get up and try to wipe her tears. She tries not to talk about it and walks around trying to keep herself busy and to distract her mothers attention. The dialog starts calm and relaxed. When Lady Capulet enters she finds Juliet crying and immediately assumes that she is crying over the death of Tybalt, instead of Romeo leaving. Lady Capulet gets a bit suspicious of why she has been crying so long: ;some grief shows much of love, But much grief shows still some want of wit. She warns Juliet that if she cries too much she would be seen as over sensitive. When she realises how upset Juliet is she makes a plan. Lady Capulet appears insensitive to her daughters sadness. At this part of the scene Juliet says ironic lines that mean one thing to her mother and another thing to herself and the audience. Indeed I never shall be satisfied with Romeo, till I behold him dead- is my poor heart so for a kinsman vexed. Juliet has to be careful so that her mother is hearing what she wants her to hear. She doesnt want to reveal her secret. This kind of language keeps the play on edge. It shows she is not completely lying, almost tricking her mother. It also engages the sympathy of the audience who know the full story. There is a lot of movement on stage and vivid images spoken through the language of the characters. Shakespeare uses blank verse a lot to break the rhythm of the text. I noticed he breaks off the verse if there is anger or disagreement. At this point, the audience and Juliet are the only people who know about Romeo and Juliets secret marriage. The audience is almost laughing at Lady Capulet because she is the only person who doesnt know. Also the audience have seen the previous scene when Lord Capulet was making the arrangements. They know both sides of the story. Juliet is obviously very shocked and upset and I picture her falling to the ground on her knees, with surprise. As no surprise, Juliet refuses very frankly to her mother. You would expect a bit of an argument here but straight away Lady Capulet hands it over to Lord Capulet. Lord Capulet enters as Lady Capulet predicted in the line above, along with the nurse. He starts off talking to them both in a very happy mood but sad at the loss of his brothers son, Tyblalt. He flows out lines of love for his daughter and wife. This entrance is the most dramatic of them all. As soon as Lady Capulet says: Ay sir, but she will none, she gives you thanks it changes suddenly and automatically Capulet gets angry at the fact that his daughter refuses to marry Paris. Lady Capulet and lord Capulet are both confused and furious over her disobedience. Capulet, whose temper has been shown before, explodes into a violent rage and shouts at his daughter for her ingratitude. He attacks her physically and rages at her. She tires the best way she can to beg for mercy but he wont have any of it. He calls her young baggage and a disobedient wretch and threatens to disinherit her if she does not obey his commands. The audience might wonder why Juliet did not take the option offered to her by her father of being disowned, but this is not a course that she can take. But this time she fails to give Juliet the advice and comfort she needs. She perhaps has never given her good advice but Juliet with distant parents turned to the nurse as her only female advisor. Now realising the full impact of her original advice the nurse is afraid and starts to backtrack so she doesnt lose her job and home. Juliet wants the Nurse to say that she will help Juliet not marry Paris and get her to Romeo. The nurse gives deceitful advice to the young bride, to forget Romeo and marry Paris. The tension finally drops when she finishes off her little soliloquy with: If all else fail, myself have power to die. So in this scene there is a lot of emotion and drama. It explores various relationships between the characters and is a foreshadowing to the end of the play. This scene sees the end of a lot of relationships; Juliet and her mother, Juliet and the nurse and Juliet and her father. Juliets very much on her own. This way she becomes more mature and finally realises the results of her actions. She has been forced to grow up quickly, from a young spoilt flighty girl; she has matured into a young woman whose love for Romeo has given her a purpose.
